Worthwhile Konczalian initiative

For those who can’t get enough of the left-neoliberalism debate: Mike Konczal has an excellent and useful post at Rortybomb that takes a stab at delineating just what makes U.S. left-neoliberism neoliberal, at a policy level.

The short version:

  1. subsidizing private providers instead of public provision.
  2. “pity-charity liberalism” versus welfare universalism
  3. the fetish for competition
  4. the focus on “egalitarian” supply-side measures, instead of demand
